Is CDCP actually free, or will I still have to pay?

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) benefits differ based on your family's income. For most families, CDCP benefits cover a portion of the cost of dental services, but not all of it, unless your family makes less than $70,000 per year.

For families earning between $70,000 and $89,999, a percentage of their dental expenses will be covered, ranging from 40 to 60 percent.

You may also incur additional costs that are your responsibility if:

  • The cost of your procedure exceeds what CDCP will pay
  • You and your dentist agree upon completing services that the CDCP does not cover, such as dental implants or orthodontic services, for example.
